Felixstowe Carnival

Second Place Carnival 2012Logistic Planning where asked to provide a vehicle for the 2012 Felixstowe Carnival.  We normally provide at least one truck for the event and love helping with the always successful carnival weekend here in Felixstowe.

Eddie took a curtain side trailer up to Trimley St Mary on the Friday afternoon to be decorated and our website developer (who does have his H.G.V. and experience) picked it back up at 9:30 am on the Saturday, taking it to the line up for a 1pm start.

The Felixstowe and District Childminding Group did very well achieving the 2nd prize for the decorated lorry category.

There was some confusion at the start as the Felixstowe Fire Service had a presence at the start of the procession, but some of the crew where wandering near the back looking at the floats when 1pm came and had to run back to the start very quickly.

Prockie enjoyed the drive but did comment on how much concentration is needed.  We sent him in the a Volvo as it’s automatic and better for urban driving but the slow pace, concentration on the forward route, mirrors for children that may pick up coins from front and rear needs due diligence for the whole route.

He did feed back how well his two assistants walking with the float did with watching out at Garrison, Ordnance and Leisure Center junctions.

As for the fireworks in the park – WOW!  A brilliant weekend and well done to the Felixstowe Carnival Committee and Prockie for his efforts on the day.

We also made it on the Felixstowe TV Video blog about the day and you can see the truck at the start.
